Education Through Expeditions & OUEC link
Education Through Expeditions is a not-for-profit, Community Interest Company which aims to provide educators with current and innovative distance-learning resources to support climate change education. Through encouraging the exploration and understanding of different habitats around the world, Education Through Expeditions aims to help educate children about their global environment. For a one minute overview, have a look at this video, or visit their website.
So what does this link mean to us at OUEC? Through linking up with ETE, we will immediately have a nationwide network of schools, universities and explorers at our fingertips, providing access to a wealth of information and experience.
We will use our expeditions & personal experiences to go into local Oxford primary and secondary schools to inspire children about the world around them, and hopefully motivate them to make a difference – a rewarding experience both for us & the children!
In addition we are very honoured to be able to introduce an ETE grant, which will go to an Oxford University Expeditions Council approved expedition. This expedition must show the most dedication and most innovative approach to the ETE cause, both in the field and upon their return to Oxford.
For further information about applying for this grant for your expedition, or if you’d like to get involved with promoting exploration in local shcools, please don’t hesitate to contact the OUEC ETE Officer, Louise Biddle (louis.biddle@exeter.ox.ac.uk). This is an exciting new project for the OUEC, and we’re looking for an enthusiastic sub-committee to organise events. Do get in touch!
